On May 30, 2024, a jury in Idaho found Chad Daybell guilty of first-degree murder in the killings in 2019 of his ex-wife Tammy Daybell and Joshua "JJ" Vallow, 7, and Tylee, 17.
The verdict concludes Chad Daybell's nearly two-month trial in the deaths of his family members. Daybell was found guilty Thursday of first-degree murder. He was arrested in 2020, two weeks after the bodies of his stepchildren were found buried on his property in rural Idaho.
The trial was closely watched by the public, as the case involved a bizarre series of events that included the deaths of several people connected to Daybell and Vallow. Prosecutors alleged that Daybell and Vallow killed the children because they believed they were possessed by evil spirits.
Daybell and Vallow are scheduled to be sentenced at a later date.
