Bietigheim Steelers Relegated to DEL2 After Finishing Last in DEL
Historic Club Faces Second Tier For First Time Since Promotion
Disappointing Season Ends with Heartbreaking Drop
The Bietigheim Steelers, a German hockey club steeped in tradition, have suffered a bitter relegation to the DEL2 after finishing bottom of the DEL standings in the 2022/23 season. The club, which has enjoyed two seasons in the top-flight German league, will return to the second tier for the 2023/24 campaign.
The Steelers have been a mainstay of the DEL since their promotion in 2021, but their stay in the elite division proved to be short-lived. The team struggled to keep pace with the league's heavyweights, amassing just 23 points in 56 games. Their relegation was confirmed on 1 March 2023.
The club's demotion represents a significant setback, but the Steelers remain determined to regain their place in the DEL. With a strong tradition and a passionate fan base behind them, the Steelers will look to bounce back and challenge for promotion in the DEL2.
